The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) has ended their nationwide strike that lasted for 36 days after a meeting with the Council of Governors (CoG). The agreement follows sustained consultative engagements between the two parties aimed at resolving long-standing grievances affecting clinical officers. The strike had significantly impacted service delivery in county health facilities, highlighting the critical role clinical officers play in Kenya’s healthcare system. The consultative process between CoG and KUCO was anchored on dialogue and consensus-building, with both sides acknowledging the need for sustainable solutions that balance workforce welfare with the operational realities of county health systems. KUCO on December 22, 2025, began a nationwide strike demanding the implementation of the CBA, salary arrears payment, recognition under the social health authority (SHA), among other demands.
