Jimmy Bone’s story began deep underground in the pits of Fallin before he climbed to the summit of Scottish football. He lifted silverware with Partick Thistle and St Mirren and played alongside some of the world’s greatest players in the star‑spangled North American Soccer League. From the pit to the football pitchThe family home was at Fallin, where his father worked as a coal miner. In February 1978, the St Mirren manager signed him for £30,000. He later returned to St Mirren as assistant manager and helped guide them to their famous 1987 Scottish Cup victory over Dundee United.
