A man who raped a teenager in Perth city centre before sexually assaulting an older woman while on bail has been jailed for nine years. Traian Covaci touched the 18-year-old at a close in Perth in the company of one of his friends. Covaci remained and pinned her against a wall and carried out further acts of sexual assault and subjected the teenager, who had been drinking, to rape. A judge told him at the High Court in Edinburgh that her last image of the rapist while she fled was of him “smirking at her”. Covaci later molested a second woman who found him in the home of her elderly mother.
