Boss of Fife’s Balbirnie House Hotel says bookings ‘at their best’ after loss-making year

A historic Fife hotel is planning to hit £75 million in sales over the next decade, despite the difficulties impacting the hospitality sector.
Balbirnie House Hotel posted a pre-tax loss of £136,000, to April 30 2025, the Markinch company’s annual accounts show.
But director Nicholas Russell is “optimistic” the popular wedding venue will return to a profit this year with their booking diaries “looking at their best in history”.
Balbirnie House has fluctuated between profit and loss over the last three years, recording a pre-tax profit of £122,000 in 2024 after losing £187,000 in 2023.
