How Fife authorities missed chance to stop paedophile
['Claire Warrender']
The Courier
Fife social workers missed a chance to stop a paedophile children’s home worker who “made Stalin look like a nice man”.
A survivor of “prolific abuser” David Murphy reported a campaign of terror at St Margaret’s Children’s Home in Elie in December 1970, four years after he left the establishment.
The man who made the initial complaint gave evidence to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry on Wednesday.
Fife Council’s chief social worker James Ross has previously issued “heartfelt apologies” to those abused in the region’s children’s homes.
Mr Ross told the inquiry on Wednesday complaints like Jamie’s would be handled very differently today.
