Cold weather advisory in place for Long Island for Friday — subzero wind chills

At 12:51 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service released a cold weather advisory valid for Friday between midnight and 10 a.m. for Northwest Suffolk, Northeast Suffolk, Southwest Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk.
The weather service comments, “Very cold wind chills as low as 7 degrees below expected.”“The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” adds the weather service.

A cold weather advisory is issued when seasonably cold air temperatures or wind chill values, but not extremely cold values, are expected or occurring.
