The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended Senegal head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw for five official CAF matches and fined him $100,000 for unsporting conduct during the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final. The sanctions were part of a sweeping set of disciplinary measures announced by CAF following incidents that marred the AFCON final between Senegal and hosts Morocco. Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr were each suspended for two official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour directed at the referee. Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two CAF matches, with one of the matches suspended for a period of one year from the date of the decision. Meanwhile, CAF dismissed a formal protest filed by the Moroccan Football Federation, which alleged violations of AFCON regulations by Senegal.
