Marty sees working here as a way to make money, and not something that contributes to his passion for table tennis. Marty is solely driven by table tennis, and he is sure he can beat the world champion. After scrambling enough money together to get to the British Open table tennis tournament in London, he breezes through matches against some of the world’s finest table tennis players. However, the ending of the movie shows that the bout, although meaningful, wasn’t the most impactful thing Marty had to face. Marty is unmistakably a victor in his own right, taking championship after championship and playing table tennis with whoever would play him.
