Right around the corner from the bustling streets of the city lie the farmlands and ranches that supply the farm-fresh foods to Emerson Dining Center plates. Bon Appétit Management Company, Emerson’s Dining Center partner since June 2018, has pledged to students that at least 20% of its annual food supply comes from local farms and vendors within 150 miles of campus. Through their respective meal plans, on-campus Emerson students are provided with three meals a day, free of cooking or clean up. According to Blackbird Farms, Emerson’s last order to Blackbird Farms was in September 2025 — an order of just 25 pounds of meat. Tufts’ definition of local food includes farms within 250 miles of their campus.
