The community group Denman Aberdeen Muswellbrook Scone Healthy Environment Group DAMS HEG won the court judgment that, according to its legal team, completely up-ends how planning authorities assess new and expanding fossil fuel projects, for the Upper Hunter, that means all existing coal mine projects currently being assessed by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment will now have to include climate change impacts of those projects on the local community.
