Honolulu Ocean Safety Department lifeguards this morning rescued a swimmer in distress in waters off Manana Island. The department said at about 10:30 a.m., lifeguards responded to a 911 call for an adult male swimmer near Manana, also known as Rabbit Island, off Makapuu in East Oahu. Lifeguards headed out on rescue jet skis, found the man, and brought him safely back to shore.
