Overview: - Asthma, a widespread chronic lung disease, impacts countless families across America, with Detroit facing the greatest challenges. - Researchers and doctors are advancing asthma care by embracing innovative therapies like blood tests, breath analyses, and biologics. About 12% of Michigan adults live with asthma, compared to almost 9% nationwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Taking time to reflect also gives doctors and patients an opportunity to think about other issues affecting the patients’ health. My colleagues and I at the University of Michigan are deeply involved in clinical trials investigating novel therapies and forward-thinking approaches to asthma care.
