VALDOSTA – The Colquitt County boys basketball team held off a late Vikings charge to get a crucial 66-64 Region 1-6A win on Tuesday at Lowndes. The win over the region-leading Vikings gave Colquitt County a split after the Lady Packers fell 54-24 in Tuesday’s first game. The Lowndes boys were undefeated in region play and had defeated the Packers 68-45 in Moultrie earlier in the month, but the Colquitt boys refused to be intimidated on the road. They can continue to solidify a potential state playoff berth when they play host to Richmond Hill on Friday. The Colquitt girls only region win came by a 42-31 score at Richmond Hill in the teams’ first meeting this season.
