CANU bust in Lethem uncovers stolen bikes, drugs, foreign cash(Kaieteur News) – Two men were arrested on Tuesday after the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) uncovered narcotics, stolen motorcycles, uncustomed goods and multiple foreign currencies during an intelligence-led operation in Tabatinga, Lethem. “In a separate section of the yard, officers discovered additional zip-lock bags containing suspected cannabis and four motorcycles, which were later confirmed to be reported stolen from Brazil,” CANU said. The cannabis was weighed at the Lethem Police Station, and Bulk 1 weighed in at 519 g, while Bulk 2 weighed in at 1.626 Kg. Both men were escorted to the Lethem Police Station and remain in custody as investigations are ongoing. CANU said it remains committed to working closely with local and international law enforcement partners to disrupt narcotics trafficking and related criminal activities.
