REO’ …WIN supporters protest over Region 10 chairmanship standoff(Kaieteur News) – Supporters and representatives of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) took to the streets of Linden on Wednesday, in a public demonstration exercise calling for the immediate election of the chairman in Region 10. Protestors stood in a line in the vicinity of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) with placards demanding that a chairman be sworn in. On October 10, the Regional Democratic Council election ended in a 9-9 tie between WIN and APNU nominees. To this, party supporters on the protest line shouted “Swear in— Goring” referring to WIN councilor, Mark Goring who was pegged for the chairmanship of the region. For its part, APNU’s Region 10 councilors in a statement last week, expressed readiness to participate once the election is convened.
