The Independent Group on North East Lincolnshire Council has emerged in local elections since 2022 from opposition to the potential Grimsby West development. ‌Cllr Lyndsey Downes (Independent Group - Freshney) said: "This development and a new road will run right across the area known as the Freshney Valley. ‌Cllrs Les Bonner and Paul Henderson (both Independent Group - Yarborough) also highlighted other concerns.
