The i Paper
My own parents married young and after a good stint, and by the time I was well into adulthood, they also got divorced.
My first marriage ended in divorce pretty quickly as it became clear how ill suited we were.
I was in my late twenties when my parents divorced, so it had much less impact on my sense of self or confidence.
And I also believe that there are benefits to both the parents and the children – being stuck in a miserable marriage is grim for all involved.
From my great grandparents to my parents, to me, to my children and beyond all benefitted and harmed in one way or another.
