Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Carpinteria man Tuesday after he allegedly threatened people with a baton and then barricaded himself in an office at the Birnam Wood Golf Club in Montecito. Deputies responded to the golf course and found Chris Ernest Wiedmann barricaded inside a fitness center office, sheriff’s spokeswoman Raquel Zick said. “After a short standoff, the suspect exited the office, dropped the baton and was taken into custody,” Zick said. Deputies searched his vehicle and found a loaded handgun, swords and escrima-style fighting sticks, Zick said. “He made his way into the fitness center, where he barricaded himself in an office,” the message said.
