An igloo created on a Sewickley street a couple days after a winter storm dropped a foot of snow in the area was demolished by borough public works crews for safety reasons. The dome-shaped creation was discovered as crews were removing snow near the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Fountain Street on Jan. 27. “It did present a safety concern,” Mazza said Jan. 28. “You could tell they put a lot of work into building it and did a good job at it.”The chief warned that igloos and other snow creations in the street create safety hazards. Public works crews may knock it down or a car could slide into it while kids are playing inside.
