What screams Australia Day more than cricket, and the seven-a-side carnival delivered exactly that. After the pool rounds, the Leprechauns, Railways and the eventual champions, the Soaring Goannas, topped their groups and progressed directly through to the semi-finals. In the semis the Leprechauns secured their place in the decider with a win over Railways, while the Soaring Goannas produced a dominant performance against Church of Christ to set up a blockbuster final. The Leprechauns won the toss and elected to send the Goannas in, a decision that backfired as the Goannas’ top order exploded.
