Three suspected poachers were arrested with 42 kilos of elephant tusks valued at Sh4.2 million in Lokichar, Turkana County. The joint operation by police and the Kenya Wildlife Service also recovered three leopard and three python skins. The elephant tusks were valued at about Sh4.2 million, officials said after the January 28, 2026 operation. Police said the suspects will be charged with the offence of being in Possession of Wildlife Trophies of Endangered Species Contrary to Section 92(4) of the Wildlife Conservation Management Act 2013. Kenya Wildlife Service and stakeholders have put in place mechanisms to eradicate all forms of wildlife crime, particularly poaching.
