Six schools in the listening area are sending several large group speech acts to state after they advanced from the district competition this past weekend. For the Iowa High School Speech Associations’ (IHSSA) Southwest District, Audubon Community School District sent seven groups, with five advancing in categories of short film, improv, musical theater, radio broadcasting, and ensemble acting. Those groups will perform at the state speech competition on Feb. 7 at West Des Moines Valley High School. The remaining schools are located within IHSSA’s northwest district and will perform at state speech on Feb. 7 in Cherokee. Ar-We-Va CSD sent four groups, with three advancing in short film, reader’s theatre, and group improv.
