YORK COUNTY — A man was fatally shot after a reported stabbing outside the Ross Dress for Less on Mooretown Road at the Williamsburg Marketcenter in York County Wednesday, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office. James City County officers issued verbal commands, which the suspect did not follow, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, who was armed, allegedly lunged at officers, at which point officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect, officials said. Law enforcement personnel on scene immediately rendered aid, and the suspect was transported to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said. The female victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials.
