The call has come from the Welsh Beer and Pub Association (WBPA) following the UK Government's announcement of increased business rates support for English pubs. The WBPA has warned that without similar action from the Senedd, Welsh pubs could face further closures and job losses. "The support measures for retail, excluding the pub sector, is damaging for pubs across Wales that are a social lifeline for so many. The association highlighted that Welsh pubs already face higher business rates due to lower reliefs compared to those in England. The recent announcement widens this gap, making it even tougher to attract investment into Wales’s pub and brewing sector.
