Representatives from Newport’s running clubs gathered alongside St David’s Hospice Care to show support for the City of Newport Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The clubs included The Running Social, Newport Female Runners Network, Caerleon Running Club, Lliswerry Runners, Run Newport, and Short Strides Run Club. John Griffiths, MS for Newport East and a participant in the race, said: "So many families in Newport have been touched by the care and compassion of St David’s Hospice Care. "Their work makes a real and lasting difference to people’s lives, and the half marathon is vital in helping them continue that support." The half marathon, now in its twelfth year and sponsored by KLA, supports St David’s Hospice Care by funding two nurses for a full year.
