ANN ARBOR – When Natasza Dudek walked through the gym doors at Ann Arbor Pioneer Wednesday morning and saw Katelyn Tuohy holding a large trophy, she knew something special was happening.
The 15-year-old was dominant in races as she went 13-0, winning the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 state title along with the Nike Cross Nationals and the Brooks XC Championships victories.
She became the first high school girls runner to win both the Nike Cross Nationals and Brooks XC Championships in the same cross country season.
“We noticed that in the United States, high school sports are very well developed, and our kids started to enjoy running and the success somehow came.
“So, I definitely see those similarities between (Natasza) and her sister.”Like Tuohy, Natasza will have a chance to repeat as the winner of the award, which is something she has her eyes set on.
