This week, Air Force defensive coordinator Brian Knorr joined the Wolverines as an assistant special teams coach, team spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed to The Ann Arbor News/ MLive. He returned there in 2018 as assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach, then promoted to defensive coordinator in 2022. A former quarterback and team captain at Air Force, Knorr made three separate coaching stints at his alma mater. He joins a Michigan special teams staff led by another college coaching veteran, Kerry Coombs, hired days before Sherrone Moore’s Dec. 10 firing. Jay Hill, from BYU, has been tapped as Michigan’s new defensive coordinator.
