ROMULUS, MI – Departing flights at Detroit Metro Airport were reportedly briefly grounded early Wednesday night because of an “aircraft emergency,” according to notice from the Federal Aviation Administration. The ground stop was issued at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, for the Wayne County facility. Although the kind of emergency was not specified, WDIV-TV reported it was not weather related. Initially reported to be in effect until 8 p.m., the ground stop was no longer listed shortly before 7:30 p.m. and appeared to have been lifted within an hour. It was not clear how many incoming flights were also affected by the order, and further details were not immediately available.
