Volkswagen Group China has kicked off 2026 with a landmark achievement: the start of production for its first locally developed zonal electronic architecture, known as the China Electronic Architecture (CEA). From concept to production, the entire CEA programme took just 18 months, the fastest Volkswagen has ever brought an all‑new electronic architecture to market. Ralf Brandstätter, head of Volkswagen Group China, emphasises that CEA brings together local development speed with Volkswagen DNA, a blend he says will define their pathway in China’s fast-evolving ICV landscape. Throughout 2026, Volkswagen Group China plans to launch four more CEA‑based vehicles across all its joint ventures, expanding coverage from A‑ to B‑segment models. With more than 50 million Volkswagen Group cars already on the road in China, this next step signals not just evolution, but transformation.
