Family members of two Trinidadian men killed in a U.S. boat strike off the coast of Venezuela filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Trump administration in Boston’s federal court on Tuesday.
Chad Joseph and Rishi Samaroo were among six fishermen killed when their boat was struck by a U.S. missile in October.
The suit claims the men were murdered in a “manifestly unlawful” military campaign targeting civilian vessels.
“These premeditated and intentional killings lack any plausible legal justification,” the lawsuit states.
They have drawn scrutiny from legal and human rights groups for potential violations of international law.
