Māori Tourism Seat Established On Marlborough Destination Advisory GroupCouncil’s Strategy and Community Partnerships Committee has today approved the addition of an eighth seat on the Destination Advisory Group for Marlborough, dedicated to Māori tourism. Destination Marlborough General Manager Tracey Green said the Marlborough Destination Management Plan placed strong emphasis on Te Ao Māori principles and on developing and engaging Māori tourism operators. Initially operated by the Destination Marlborough Trust, it was brought under Council management in July 2025, following the disestablishment of the Trust. The Destination Advisory Group was established in September 2025 to enable visitor industry representation on the operations of Destination Marlborough. It works to ensure the Marlborough Destination Management Plan continues to remain relevant and fit for purpose.
