The Patriots made a pair of signings on Wednesday when New England added wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. and linebacker Patrick Johnson to its practice squad. Sherfield was released by the Patriots day before the AFC Championship Game against his former Denver Broncos team. In nine games for the Eagles, Johnson amassed eight total tackles, one tackle for loss and two quarterback hits. The Patriots return to practice Thursday as they begin preparations for Super Bowl 60 and the Seattle Seahawks. They fly to Santa Clara on Sunday and will spend the week out west before the big game Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium.
