SPRINGFIELD – Community Bank will celebrate the grand opening Thursday of its second area branch, this one at 1387 Boston Road. The branch will be home to a community development manager and four tellers and will join Community Bank’s only other area branch in Springfield’s Tower Square. A 5 p.m. Thursday ribbon-cutting will feature remarks from Community Bank New England Region President Matt Plasse. Community Bank, based in Syracuse, New York, opened 13 branches in 2025 and has 200 locations in five states: upstate New York, northeastern Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Community Bank arrived in Springfield in 2017 following two separate takeovers that resulted in Nuvo Bank & Trust Co. being owned by Community Bank.
