SPRINGFIELD — The Art for the Soul Gallery in downtown Springfield is welcoming artists, poets and creative vendors to its Tower Square space Friday. It’s all part of the first “Mic & MRKT” event, which aims to bring the city’s creative sector — artists, singers, performers and crafters — together for a night of community. The event will be held in the gallery space at 1500 Main St. from 6 to 10 p.m. and is free to attend. There are two main draws to the evening: vendors and an open mic. The open mic has six performers confirmed, but anyone will be able to sign up and take the stage later in the evening.
