Oregon picked up its second consecutive blowout victory Wednesday night, beating Rutgers 74-53 in women’s basketball at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, N.J. After feeling its way through the first quarter, Oregon (16-7, 4-6 Big Ten) used a dominant second quarter to build a 44-25 halftime lead and then coasted to a dominant victory. WHAT IT MEANSThe Ducks, who won 89-59 Saturday over Penn State, remain within striking distance of earning an NCAA Tournament bid with eight conference games remaining. Guard Ari Long scored 12 points with 12 rebounds. SECOND QUARTER OUTBURSTThe Ducks led 19-16 entering the second quarter, where they shot 50% from the field while holding Rutgers to 31% shooting and forcing six turnovers that UO converted into 11 points.
