District-leading Lufkin jumped ahead of Tyler early and kept the lead in double digits most of the night on the way to a 56-39 win here Wednesday night at Lufkin High School’s Panther Activity Center. Lufkin (20-5, 11-0), led by Austin Brown’s 22 points, won its 49th straight district game. Lufkin closed out the period with eight straight points. JaKevion Sanders had a big second period, scoring nine of the Panthers’ 11 points in the quarter. Lufkin will play at Hallsville on Friday and Tyler will host Whitehouse.
