A notice appeared on the Jewson website informing traders that its Ascot Drive branch in Wilmorton had shut down, advising customers to go to the nearest branch, in Alfreton Road, instead.
The notice on the website reads: " Sorry, Jewson Derby (Ascot Drive) has recently closed."
It opened its Ascot Drive branch, which lies between Longbridge Lane and Newmarket Drive, in the early 2010s, following the closure of Build Centre.
A Jewson spokesperson said it had to make the "difficult but necessary" decision to downscale operations in some areas.
