Morton pleads guilty in federal court, to be sentenced in April

Erika Leigh Morton, 37, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau to one count of possession of child pornography.
According to court documents, Morton admitted to sending child sexual abuse material through the Kik Messenger app.
During the interview, Morton admitted she was the Kik user responsible for sending the material and acknowledged that she used her cellphone to obtain the files while at her home in Ste.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
