HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – After beating Western Illinois by 32 points in the second night of a back-to-back, University of Southern Illinois men’s basketball head coach Stan Gouard said he hopes his team’s play is sustainable going forward. The night before, the Screaming Eagles dropped an opportunity to get an overtime win over Eastern Illinois. Gouard said he and his team had a “come to Jesus moment” in the locker room following the loss. He said they spent about 30-45 minutes discussing their frustration and how they can improve their play. “I don’t care who we’re playing against, if it’s Western Illinois or Tennessee Tech it doesn’t matter,” he said.
