Anduril co-founder Palmer Luckey has started a drone race known as AI Grand Prix with a $500,000 prize pool and a job at his company for the winner. The lengthy competition will culminate in a head-to-ahead race at the company’s new megra-factory in Ohio in November. “Competitors will race fully autonomous drones built by Neros Technologies, a leading American manufacturer of small unmanned aerial systems. No human pilots and no hardware modifications will be allowed — ensuring the competitive edge is gained entirely by developing the best software,” Anduril said in a posting on its website today. The race is an open challenge to university teams and independent engineers from the U.S. and around the world, according to Anduril.
