Amidst last weekend's winter storm, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani seemed to be nearly as strategic with his fashion choices as he was with his civic ones. The second was a jacket emblazoned with “Emergency Management,” in which he addressed New York City public school students. The last and most attention-grabbing ensemble featured a Carhartt jacket he wore to a press conference and, later, to shovel snow in Brooklyn neighborhoods amidst Sunday’s immense snowfall. The piece also features custom embroidery by the Bushwick-based Arena Embroidery, founded by Rocco Arena in 2018. Arena Embroidery posted a photo of the custom jacket the mayor wore on their Instagram.
