Kenya’s Debt Risk Eases but Long-Term Challenges Remain, Says Moody’s

Global credit rating agency Moody’s has upgraded Kenya’s credit rating, providing a welcome boost after months of economic strain and mounting debt pressures.
The agency raised Kenya’s rating from Caa1 to B3 and assigned a stable outlook, indicating that the risk of default in the near term has eased.
While the upgrade does not remove all risks, it suggests that Kenya is less likely to face an immediate debt crisis.
Moody’s noted that future upgrades will depend on Kenya’s ability to control spending, increase revenue sustainably, and reduce reliance on borrowing.
For now, the B3 rating upgrade offers cautious optimism.
