By Our ReporterShillong, Jan 28: Meghalaya’s karate contingent delivered an impressive performance on the national stage, returning with a rich haul of medals from the 43rd JKA India National Programme held at Maligaon, Assam, from January 16 to 20. A total of 68 karatekas representing the All Meghalaya Karate–Do Association (AMKA) took part in the multi-event programme, which included the 43rd JKA India National Karate Championship and Camp 2026, the 13th JKA India Veteran Tournament 2026 and the 18th JKA India Kyu Level Tournament 2026. Sub-junior and cadet competitors set the tone early, securing multiple podium finishes in both kata and kumite, while junior and women’s categories added further weight to Meghalaya’s medal count. Their performances highlighted the balance between experience and youth within the Meghalaya contingent and reinforced the association’s emphasis on sustained development across generations .The campaign was further marked by a significant individual milestone, as Sensei Donboklang Lyngdoh successfully cleared his 6th Dan Black Belt Examination. The examination was conducted by Shihan T. Taniyama, 7th Dan, a JKA Headquarters instructor from Japan, lending international prestige to the achievement and adding to the overall significance of the event for the Meghalaya association.
