Ajax and PSV Eindhoven have been eliminated from the Champions League as they both slumped to home defeats on a miserable night for Dutch football. The home side had the best chances of a lively first half, but were unable to make the breakthrough they needed. Instead Bayern went ahead when Jamal Musiala collected a short pass and found the net from a tight angle seven minutes into the second half. Ajax’s slender hopes of progress depended on seven other results going their way, even if they managed to beat Greek champions Olympiakos in Amsterdam. Oskar Gloukh had the best chance of the first half when he blazed over from close range after 25 minutes.
