Dorothy Sue Sloan Campbell, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House. Dorothy was born December 1, 1938, in Iredell County to the late Rex Orren Sloan and Edna McCurdy Sloan. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society, and she was past secretary of the Kiwanis. Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her sons, Charles Phillip Campbell Jr. and David Allen Campbell (Sandra); grandchildren, Charles Campbell III, Elizabeth Michelle Campbell, Ivan Edward Smith, Joshua Kirk Campbell and Callie Grace Campbell; brothers, Donald Sloan (Naomi), Dennis Sloan (Carolyn), Wayne Sloan and Gerald Sloan (Debbie); sisters, Almedia Baxter and Judy Upright (Larry); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
