The link bridge will connect the new Dampier Bulk Handling Facility with the existing Dampier Cargo Wharf, enhancing direct shipping services in the Pilbara. The project forms part of the broader Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects, which aim to deliver a multi-user facility at the port. The Port of Dampier is predominantly used for the export of iron ore, LNG, salt and condensate, with iron ore accounting for around 86 per cent of throughput. Rio Tinto is a major user of the port for its iron ore exports.
