August John “Augie” Lamping, age 96 of Hamburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville, Indiana. He was a former member of St. Anne’s Church and currently a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church – St. Maurice Campus. He was a former Committee Chairman for St. Anne’s Church and was on the Advisory Board for the Salt Creek Democrats. He is survived by his wife Bernice Lamping of Hamburg; sons Dennis (Cindy) Lamping, Roger (Janice) Lamping, Francis (Bev) Lamping, and Mark (Brenda) Lamping, all of Hamburg; sister Irene (Walter) Meyer of Batesville; brothers Cletus (Betty) Lamping of Batesville and John (Carol) Lamping of Oldenburg; sister-in-law Alice Lamping of Oldenburg; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, with one on the way.
