There are art pieces/pictures on a wall, but somehow there is a hole in the group, like something is missing. Or there's a gap on a shelf (bonus points for there actually being a void in the dust on the surface). There is a section of the coat closet where a couple of things could easily hang, a gap in the middle. "Examples: He's got more than salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano in the spice cabinet, but he doesn't cook. He's got a couple of interesting non-generic pieces sitting somewhere, but there is no story behind them."
