In Europe, EUROSTOXX 50 futures and FTSE futures fell 0.2 per cent, while DAX futures eased 0.1 per cent.
Gold added 1.8 per cent to $5,485 an ounce, bringing its gains for this month alone to 27 per cent.
Brent added 0.6 per cent to $68.80 a barrel, while US crude rose 0.7 per cent to $63.65 per barrel.
