MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The state of Monongalia County roads after a multi-day snowstorm that also included freezing rain has garnered praise from local officials. Members of the Monongalia County Commission expressed gratitude towards officials working with the West Virginia Department of Highways District 4 as well as contractors with Anderson Excavating during their regular meeting Wednesday after numerous positive resident reports from the weekend storm. “I really want to thank DOH and Anderson Excavating; they were in charge of 80 miles that they plowed numerous times over and over again,” said Bloom. “Like the main stretch on Patterson Drive, which was done unbelievably.”According to the commission, contractors with Anderson Excavating addressed over 1,000 miles of county roads three times during the multi-day storm that caused the National Weather Service to place the entire state on a winter storm alert. The work undertaken by private contractors was supported as part of legislation spearheaded by Monongalia County Delegate David McCormick and co-sponsored by a contingent that included fellow Mon County Delegates Joe Statler and Geno Chiarelli.
